About the Author

B.S. Sahay is Founder Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur. Prior to joining IIM Raipur, he served as director of reputed Indian institutes such as Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, and Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad. Dr. Sahay has obtained his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He has been to Germany (1997) and Japan (1994) under Fellowship Programmes. His teaching, research and consulting interests include logistics and supply chain management, productivity management, business modelling, higher education & accreditation. Dr. Sahay serves on the Editorial Board of journals such as International Journal of Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management: An International Journal,Business Process Management Journal to name a few. He has authored six books and edited thirteen books in the area of supply chain management, world class manufacturing, total quality management

and productivity management. He is a recipient of the IIT Delhi Alumni Association Award and Distinguished Alumnus award.

Good but too light on details

The book contains numerous techniques and is fairly good at describing them at a high level, however that's about as much as this book is good for. If you want to know in-depth about the techniques then look elsewhere since this book, by design, does not get into the nitty gritty as much as would be needed to really understand and implement the techniques listed. Still, a very handy resource to have in your bookshelf.

Great book for Business Analysis

I bought this book along with its companion "Business Analysis" and love both of them. I was recently transitioned into a new business analysis role at work and bought a lot of books and did a lot of research on my new role. This book is by far the best out there. The material is presented clearly and it's very easy to follow. They have some great template examples and really help you understand each step of the business analysis process. I highly recommend this book to any business analyst... new or seasoned.

Solid Business Analysis Framework and Field Manual

Reviewing this book in the context of it being one of the 11 books recommended to read to prepare for the PM-PBA, book 1 or 11. The book proposes a life-cycle Business Analysis from; Business Strategy and Objectives, Investigate Situation, Consider Perspectives, Analyze Needs, Evaluate Options, to Define Requirements. The Authors then create a framework by laying 99 techniques into the framework at various stages.

It is an interesting approach, and probably a curative to many of the poorly designed portfolios, programs, and projects when helping to guide the hands of an experienced practitioner. The novice to intermediate practitioner might find the lack of detail on techniques frustrating, this is more of a BA Field Manual than a "How To". Found this book expensive but liked it. Encyclopedic feel. I will use it professionally.

Priceless, just priceless

The Christmas that Almost Wasn't is a poem for children of all ages, the story of Nicholas Knock, a seven-year-old boy, saving the kingdom of Lullapat from a dark conspiracy. The king's nephew Evilard has locked up the king and outlawed Christmas, and it is up to Nick to save the day.

This is a beautiful book to read aloud, being fully in poetic form and chock full of unforgettable images. "The flour was unground into wheat at the mill, for the river turned round and flowed back up the hill. The spots on the leopard went rolling away - and were captured for marbles by urchins at play." Some of the words aren't ones children see everyday, but nowhere does it come in the way of the story. Good chance to learn some vocabulary, and even if you don't it's pretty obvious what's going on.

The pictures, at least in my edition (1957 Little, Brown &co. hardcover) are mostly ink drawings with little color, but the real pictures are in the words and the illustrations just add a bit of zing.

I hope someday this is reprinted for new generations to enjoy.
