An Irish princess. A Viking warrior …

His people's raids on her homeland should have made them bitter enemies. But when he washes up on her beach with no memory of his life, Brenna finds herself drawn to the handsome stranger. She both longs for and fears his touch. Could learning to love him somehow erase the brutality in her past?

For a man looking for some sense of himself, one place is as good as another. When Brenna's Northman learns some of his people have settled in distant Dublin, they set off in search of the man he'd been. They run headlong into the treachery that threw them together and discover a new secret that threatens to tear them apart.

Can a man who can't remember and a woman who longs to forget find love and forgiveness in the haven of each other's arms?

About the Author …

Mia learned much of what she knows about storytelling from singing. A classically trained soprano, she won the District Metropolitan Opera Auditions and has shared a stage with Placido Domingo. Since she's worn a real corset, and had to sing high Cs in one, she empathizes with the trials of her fictional heroines. But in Mia's stories, they don't die in a Parisian garret. They get to live and keep the hero!

Now an award-winning author, Mia Marlowe writes historical romance for multiple publishing houses. Mia's work was featured in the Best of 2010 edition of PEOPLE Magazine. One of her books is on display at the Museum of London Docklands, alongside Johnny Depp memorabilia. Her TOUCH OF A ROGUE was recently named one of Publishers Weekly's Top Ten Romances for Spring 2012.

She longed for his hands to caress her body the same way they ran over the gleaming wood of his ship. But even their desire can’t deny the secrets of the past. And as they travel through the land of Erin on a quest that could change the course of history, long-ago betrayals and treachery threaten to destroy the haven they’ve found in each other’s arms.

Sometimes even those who should be bitter enemies can find love together

Sometimes even those who should be bitter enemies can find love together.

Brenna has seen much in her life, and not all of it is good. She is haunted by horrific memories of what the Vikings have done to her people, those of the land of Erin. When one of them washes up on her beaches she should have left him to rot. But something about this stranger with no memory teases at her senses and she can't resist his allure.

Named Keefe by his beautiful rescuer, he commits himself to her father, the King, as willing payment for their aid. But Keefe cannot be free until he recovers the past that troubles him with little glimpses of another life. Now, with Brenna at his side, they follow the Erinsong on a journey to confront the demons of their respective pasts. Only then can they venture into a shared future. What happens when that past may be better left buried?

Diana Groe is a new author who has what it takes to make it to the top. Her story brings to mind the lyrical prose of the long gone tradition of troubadours and traveling storytellers as may have been found in deep history. There is a richness to her writing that makes it so easy to visualize the vivid greens of ancient Ireland, the majestic castles, and the deeply spiritual people. She paints a picture with her novel that takes me on a journey to a time I can only dream about.

Brenna has been scarred by the horrors perpetrated by the Vikings on her family and cannot break its hold. She wants to hate this man who has appeared out of nowhere, but finds herself helping Keefe instead. As she comes to know his heart, she slowly is able to release her pain. As we see her overcome her fears, we are brought to tears by the new hope she is granted.

Keefe is torn between what he knows and what he cannot remember. As bits and pieces of his memory come back to him, he is horrified to discover what he may have been a part of and he will do whatever it takes to find his redemption. We feel his struggle between two lives and sympathize with his plight. When he finally finds the answers he seeks, Keefe is humbled by Brenna's love for one such as he.

After concluding Erinsong, I am now determined to go get a copy of Diana's first book, Maidensong, thrilled to have discovered a new shining star in the Irish Historical genre.

3 and 1/2 Stars - Sequel to MAIDENSONG OK but has Issues
By Regan
This is the second Viking romance by Diana Groe. The first, her debut novel, was MAIDENSONG. This one continues with some of the same people. Like the first, it has its strong points but also has some slow spots and some contrived plot elements, which the experienced romance reader will find annoying. Groe never gives us a date for her romances (unfortunately), but we can figure out when it takes place. This one was set in Ireland (Erin) when the Kings of Tara from the Ui Neill Dynasty ruled Donegal (from 500 to 1000 AD). Because of the dating of the first book, we know this has to be set in the 6th century, 3 years later than MAIDENSONG.

Brenna, daughter of the King of Donegal, was out with her younger sister one day when they discovered a Viking warrior washed up on the beach. They thought he was dead but soon learned he was only knocked out and has amnesia. By the time he learns his name, Jorand has become something of a hero to Brenna's people and the King gives Brenna to Jorand in marriage. Brenna insists on a hand fast marriage because she doesn't know Jorand's past or even if he is already married. (Personally, I am not fond of hand fast marriages in stories as it seems like a temporary license to sleep together and sets up a "black moment" as you think they will separate in a year.) Anyway, Brenna harbors a secret that causes her to deny Jorand a physical relationship, though he is a most caring husband. That made her a very unsympathetic heroine. And it is never good when you don't like the heroine.

I was nearly half way through the book at this point, and could have set the book down and forgotten it. But I decided to keep reading. The story picked up about 2/3rds of the way through and was good after that. Even the heroine became likable. Still, I'm giving it 3 and ½ stars for the issues identified.

Not your typical Viking Romance
By Melissa
When Brenna finds a handsome stranger washed upon the Irish coast she instantly believes he is a Norsemen and up to no good. Norsemen have raided the area for years and are responsible for much of the heartache in her life. Her older sister was raped by a Norsemen and Brenna barely escaped ravishment too.

Unfortunately this Norseman is stricken with amnesia and has somehow charmed his way into her father's heart. Brenna names him Keefe and keeps a watchful eye on the stranger who turns out to be rather useful, he makes boats and is a wonderful carpenter. He is also noble, he saves Brenna's other sister, Moira, from would be rapists one evening.

To reward him, Brenna's father, the King of his tribe, gives Brenna to him in marriage. Brenna is appalled at this turn of events as she is truly afraid of the marriage bed after all she has endured. That is just one of the problems these two must surmount, another is Keefe's former life and the memories that are returning in bits and pieces. Keefe is very patient with Brenna and she finally believes she has found happiness with this gentle man but there are difficulties they must face as they head to Dublin to confront her husband's past.

I liked this romance because it had unexpected twists and turns, especially when the hero recovers from his amnesia. Also this was so different from many Viking romances where the heroine is the captive and the Viking the captor; instead this novel focuses much more on two imperfect people learning to trust each other.
