About the Author
Dewey M. Caron is a graduate of Cornell University and Emeritus Professor from the University of Delaware. He has received numerous awards and forms of recognition for his teaching and extension work during his career. Lawrence John Connor is a graduate of Michigan State University. With a background in university extension and commercial bee breeding, Connor owns and operates Wicwas Press, the major publisher of beekeeping books in North America. He is the author of four other books on bees and beekeeping: Increase Essentials, Bee Sex Essentials, Queen Rearing Essentials and Bee-sentials: A Field Guide with Robert G. Muir.

Stop now !! save yourself endless hours at the bookstore, tons of fustration and $$$ - All you need is this Book

I've never written a review on any product I've bought before because I tend to be a bit hard and critical on products. However with this product and my experience thus far with beekeeping I felt I should. I have ordered est. 7 books on the subject ($200.00) in the last 9 mos and found them all over priced and lacking in depth and knowledge. I was hopeful after reading the reviews on Honey Bee Biology but was still prepared to be disappointed and waste more money. To my great surprise I found the book amazingly well edited, easy to read and full of the education/knowledge that all the other books did not contain. The book could be priced for twice as much and still be worth it. This is my first year in the beekeeping hobby/business and I have abandoned/shelved all my other books and refer to this one only. Many thanks to all those that helped produce and bring this product to market. There is nothing negative I can say

The best book in my bee library!

Clear, concise and engagingly written, this excellent look at bees, bee biology/physiology and behaviour is richly illustrated and cleverly organized. I especially applaud the way in which the most recent research is presented, very readable and clear in its implications for the beekeeper. I was especially interested in the way the book explored foraging behaviours, and will use that information to plan my forage plantings next year (the country fields are so empty of bee forage now that you have to purpose-plant forage for them...). Meanwhile, all those of you city or country who want to give the bees a boost, plant up some spring flowering heather, some catmint (catmint, not catnip), some sunflowers and caryopteris (Bluebeard, very pretty). If we all put those in our gardens or on our balconies, it would really help build populations of all the pollinators! Great book, fascinating read.

This book not only encompasses facts but also provides topics for further discussion, thus leading to further inquiry into the fascinating world of honey bees.
