Unbroken truly emotional-Great Story.

This is a really moving story about two people who meet under a unique situation. They didn’t even realize that would end up as step brother and sister until later. Cameron Watson came in to The Washington D.C. National Military Medical Center ICU, hurt due to a bomb blast that took place while he was overseas serving as a member of the armed forces. Milly Hamilton is his nurse and she took really good care of him-she found something about him called to her deep. She didn’t know what but she would just talked to him while he was in his coma about things and she could call him “hot stuff” and just speak from her heart. When he woke up, it was like a dream come true. But when he woke up, he was quickly transferred to rehab and away from her.
Now during this time his father had visited and he is this big wig in the Joint Chiefs and he was so nasty to his son-didn’t seem to really care that his son survived while the other 6 men didn’t of the IED blast. Also, Milly’s mother who this senator had been nosing around –not to see her daughter but to make inroads with Cam’s father. You can tell both MC had horrible parents who didn’t care a whit about them, only about themselves and used the MC to do their bidding when it would get them something.
So during this time, Milly and Cam started seeing each other and then the parents ended up getting married and when the MC tell the parents they wanted to see each other- the “parents” put a guilt trip on them about how sinful that would be. Cam was dealing with the stress and guilt from the IED blast so he quits seeing Milly. There was a lot of anger on Milly’s side toward her mother and Cam’s father over how they just take over and make decisions when it’s not their life. I loved the play on the step brother theme when really they aren’t related and they didn’t even grow up together. There is more going on with Cam than what he is letting on. There is a slight twist toward the end. I liked how the story ended the author weaved a masterful story and I hope she continues to write more stories like this. I had even shed a few tears with this story-the HEA at the end was great. Milly and Cam are what I like my MC to be. Milly was a sweet, thoughtful, feisty girl who wanted to protect her man from harm; you have Cam who is a soulful, quiet, wounded man who is grieving for his lost friends well he had me from the moment he opened his eyes. Not to say he isn’t charming and sweet for he is but there is more beneath the surface. This story will be what you look to read after a long day and worth re-reading over and over.

I actually love the taboo of step-siblings. It is a huge weakness of mine. This one was very heart warming, plus some real good steamy parts. *smile* Emma Fawkes done an amazing job.
I had to laugh at Milly. Milly is such a strong headed person and so funny and brave. Milly worked at The Washington D.C. National Military Medical Center in the neuro ICU. Here is was thinking people in coma could not hear what you were saying to them. So she made it a habit to talk to her patients that were in coma. So when Cameron Watson becomes her patient she could not help but flirt with him while he was in coma. You know stuff like “Hi hot stuff”. I just about feel out of my seat when I read that..LOL
Cameron who was 1st Lieutenant in the US Marine Corp and was station in Iraq was in an accident. An IED went off and killing 6 of his men. He survived. Now he could not understand why he could not move or open his eyes. He kept reliving this awful nightmare. But in this dream state he kept hearing this Angels voice, which he was drawn to.
Cameron does not only have to work on his physical but also his emotional health as well. Physical seems a little easy for him to except, but the emotional not so much. He is one to bottle things up because he believes emotion is a sign of weakness and at the moment he is bottling all the guilt, hurt, and anger. He feels like he is to blame for all that has gone wrong. He feels so broken and not worthy of love.
Cameron and Milly hit it off. They have a lot in common. Both have a worthless parent that are not worthy to have such wonderful children. I can only imagine the shock on Cameron and Milly’s face when their parents announced they were dating and getting married and for Cameron and Milly to end this relationship. What will they do? They feel deeply for each other. Will they meet their selfish worthless parents demands to end the relationship?
I really enjoyed this book. I truly love the storyline she went with in this book.

A stepbrother romance that is elevated past the norm of the subgenre

I am in love with this highly emotional tale of Cameron and his Milly. Cameron is a marine who is fighting to become physically, mentally, and emotionally whole following tragic events which occurred during his last deployment to Iraq, and he meets Milly while she is serving as his ICU nurse. The two share instant chemistry, and quickly fall for each other. Cameron is haunted by the events that led to his injury and feeling damaged. However, Milly is determined to show Cameron that he isn't as broken as he believes himself to be and to love him back to a place of potency. Their developing relationship is affected by their interactions with their mutually cold and self serving parents and by the marriage which occurs between the two; yet ultimately, Cameron and Milly find their set place in each other.
This story is beautifully written, and the storyline and characters are well crafted and completely fleshed out. They are developed to show both the strengths and the weaknesses found in true humans rather than the more static and one dimensional cast sometimes contained in books. The words on the page pull you in at the beginning, and they don't let you go even once the story ends. I highly recommend this book to all readers, not just to lovers of stepbrother romance!
